2024 started with the best intentions of week notes then I got busy with life and work so week notes went a bit on the back burner. Lots of good things to reflect on, just not as frequent as I’d have liked it to be. Oh well, here goes a quick reflection on some of the highlights.

Update on 2024 Goals

I’ve had a reflection on how it’s going for my 2024 goals — post here: https://ben-sewell.medium.com/2024-goals-update-march-24-1df7f1f71db6

Work Highlights

Digital Transformation

I’m more settled and networked with the right people in my new role. This is a good feeling that things are making more sense and I’m joining up conversations with organisational needs, service delivery requirements and the matching digital components to deliver People, Process and Technology. Getting to this stage so early in a new job is a good feeling, so much so that I put myself forward to deliver the new starter day induction for my directors Finance and Corporate resources giving new starters at Versus Arthritis key message updates on my team and what the rest of my directorate does for the organisation.

Three systems are lined up for replacement, just in the final stages of planning and implementation assessments.

The Data and Systems transformation programme is going well and two big system implementations are close to the go-live project start stage gate reviews.

Leadership

This is going well overall. The digital transformation programme is heading in the right direction. I’m interacting at the level I need to be and it feels good being in the strategic leadership space providing updates on key digital topics. I’ve made a move to make sure Digital is part of all governance groups too, if in doubt get into the meetings as I want to be part of early conversations to represent digital as a whole and steer any queries to safety as early as possible and confirm existing and planned delivery cycles.

I have focused on getting some project items on track after some delays with linkages to critical path items and unexpected emergencies.

My first Board Visit

pictures of my visit to the Versus Arthritis London Board

A milestone achieved, my first appearance at the Versus Arthritis Board happened in February. I delivered an update on the DST programme, key challenges and achievements. A lot of prep went into this and I took my programme manager with me to learn for experience and a development opportunity. I delivered the updates necessary in half the time planned and answered all questions. Full steam ahead now into delivery, HR System followed by Finance system and developing an MVP for our Services delivery.
