It’s been a few months since I set out my goals for 2024, three months in this is what it looks like.

Goals for my mind

Week notes and review✅ — Still happening but not weekly for sure!

Balance ✅ — Working well but putting the hours in at work to get things moving.

Goals for my body

Exercise & Sleep ✅ — Lost nearly a stone after Christmas up to the February half term. Then I had a combination of a holiday, some health changes to my family and being a bit lazy so half of it went back on.

Oh well, back to it as they say. My next check-in or goal with exercise is a holiday in the Summer. Back to being good, when I can until then 🙂

Work Goals

DST ✅- Going well after a handover before Christmas. All projects going in the right direction.

Digital Leadership ✅— More to do on this but some good strategic thinking going on and high collaboration across teams. Need to do more on strategy and the bigger picture.

Networking ⏸️- This hasn’t happened as much as I’d have liked to being so busy it’s taken a lesser priority but will be back. I have spoken to the British Computer Society briefly about some ideas and areas of support and specialist group

Trim Social Media ❌- Nothing on this.

Make work visible ⏸️ — In progress but more needed.

Moving out of the NHS blog ❌- Not started this but have caught up with the old work crew a few times which was nice.

My Development Goals

CITP — ✅In progress. Form submitted.

Reflection

I learned some skills in how to deal with new experiences and challenges by breaking down barriers and focusing on immediate threats rather than overthinking things. Taking a positive mindset and testing yourself in unfamiliar situations gives you confidence in new development areas. Some good tools on how to develop yourself and teams and with a positive mindset, with a growth mindset no matter what the setbacks you are always learning and improving.

Reflection

A really good book on how important it is to align technology teams to business goals. Make work visible and use agile tools. Set a high level vision and break down work to the smallest work package and deliver. Use agile to enable constant delivery, experiment and deliver value.

Some great tools and references, a great read for anyone leading in or working with digital.

In Progress: ✅

Wiring the Winning Organisation — Kim & Spear — https://tinyurl.com/pbp5kcre

So far outstanding, love the authors and tools, more to follow. This is becoming my new favourite.

Additional Leadership Role ⏸️

In progress. I’ve seen some Non-Exec Director roles and Trustee roles that I’ve had conversations about and I’ll put in a form and take if from there.

Developing Others ✅

This is in train and going well. I’ve passed on some things I learned in previous roles into my current role and team which is proving useful. I’ve provided some help and support to some NHS colleagues on CPD matters including getting certified as a CHCIO as well as some more informal knowledge sharing with CIOs in different sectors. If we learn from each other we will become stronger!

Involvement in Research ✅

I was part of a research focus group as a parent of children with JIA. More here: https://tinyurl.com/28ufdmjs
